When God Stopped the Rain: A Miracle That Kept Me Rolling

Hey there, friends! Gramma G here, ready to share a story that’ll make you believe in miracles, even if you’re doubting. Hold tight, because this one’s about faith, a stormy day, and a God who always has my back.

Let’s set the scene: I’m a kid, reliant on a ventilator and wheelchair, with equipment that doesn’t play nice with water, just like a Gremlin. My dad and I are at a family member’s house, no nurse around, so my grandma joins us to help get me home. We’ve got a bus—my trusty chariot—and it’s time to head out. But, as soon as we start driving, the sky throws a fit, pouring rain like it’s trying to flood the world like Noah's Ark part 2.. For me, wet equipment is a big problem, so we need that rain to stop by the time we reach home.

My dad, the rock that he is, starts praying. He’s steering the bus, asking God to pause the rain when we pull up to our house. He looks at me and asks, “You got faith, champ?" I shout, "I've got faith!"  We start praying together, loud and full of heart, telling God He’s in charge of the weather. The rain, though? It’s not listening. It’s coming down even harder, like it's challenging us. My grandma, a faithful woman who’s served the Lord her whole life, is in the back, looking at us like we’re a little wild. And, well, maybe we are, but that’s not the point.

We keep praying, pouring our hearts out as we get closer to home. The rain’s still pounding, relentless as ever. About half a mile out, it eases up just a bit, but it’s still too wet for comfort. A block away, it’s not looking promising. But then, as we turn onto our street and pull up to the house, my dad asks, “What do you hear?” I listen and say, “Nothing.” And it’s true—the rain stopped, right as we parked. God flipped the switch. We hustle to get me and my gear unloaded, rolling into the house like our lives depend on it. The moment we’re inside and my dad secures the bus, the rain starts up again, like it was just waiting for us to make it safely.

That’s the God I serve, friends. He heard our prayers and stopped the rain just long enough to keep me and my equipment safe. If He can control the weather, there’s nothing He can’t do. All it takes is faith, trust and... Well, maybe not pixie dust. I’m proof of that—doctors said I wouldn’t make it past 2 or 3 because of my disability, but I just celebrated my 30th birthday. Defying the odds? That’s my story, because God’s in control.

This is just one of my miracle stories, and I’ve got plenty more to share. Want to keep following my journey? Stick around for the next one. Until then, keep trusting Him—LilG’s out!
